solo show open through the end of the month

What do a bank, Castro Valley, and not being able to hang a piece with actual bones on it have in common? ME! Invited back for a second year, I'm showing pieces at the Bank of the West in Castro Valley. Thanks to Nicolas Caesar of www.scary-art.com for the opportunity.

inspirations this week

It's been harvesting season, and I'm gathering images for my new show going up on Monday at the bank, doing my squirrel totem proud!  The focus this time is really on color with landscapes having a secondary focus on depth of field and collages having a secondary focus on transparent layers giving the illusion of depth.  Somehow, this all plays into a higher metaphor about transparency and vulnerability showing the true depth of a person's nature rather than the superficial masks we adopt to protect ourselves.

Inspiraitons coming from a wide variety of sources.  Here are a few:

I have to keep reminding myself that white is a color.

cloudmaster

That is the title I want one day, Cloudmaster.  Those who currently have it are Dale Terbush and Bob Ross.

This morning was a good day for painting clouds, and Bob did a fantastic job in the sky with that divine sized 2" brush!

Newsflash:
I'll be having a solo artshow for one month starting in November of new landscape pieces where I'm going to attempt to push the concept of bold COLOR in landscape painting and avoid pastels.

elf coats and E-UPs

Years ago, Mona and I realized with the help of Rob Brezsny that the Universe Plots for our happiness.  We would send each other letters listing the affirmed confirmations of this simple truth calling them E-Ups, Evidence of the Universal Plot.

Today's evidence is in the celebration of used sweaters found here:

my wine is your poison

When I run into a high level of toxicity, I find it uplifting to put on a new face.

Slings and arrows, sticks and stones my new make-up hides uneven tones!

...in the beginning

There was light, and I saw it in various places filled with new inspiration.

Life has many beginnings and endings.  My previous online journals have been outlived and herein reincarnated.  From pure poetry to daily observations, now we move into the visual sketch book journal.

Feed your head.  My meals started with these links.

Snacks grew into banquets of eyecandy, and slowly I began to outgrow my limits.  The wardrobe began to change, new shoes for a new a new soul.  Camera ready and willing.  Sale searching.  Old magnetic tapes were being played.  Mixes were being rediscovered.  I might even have to buy a phonograph.  Dramatic eyemake-up.  Teaching painting.  A pink car on the horizon....I'll post a map, soon, Lovies.
